Improv: Musical Instruments Vol. 1/Chapter 1: Definition

Improv explained by various dictionaries:

Shortening (Dictionary.com By Origin)
Of, relating to, or being improvisation and especially an improvised comedy routine (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary)
Performative act that depends on instrumental technique (The FreeDictionary.com Paraphrased)

We’re going to talk about the definition applied to Improv vs. what it actually is.

As you saw above, the overall definition stated by online dictionaries is: in the moment performance. This usually sounds better done in a group of 3-4 people when you play with musical instruments.

Bass (In order):
-Bass
-Melodie
-Harmony
-Counter Harmony/Melodie/Bass

Music ‘Checkpoints’ (usually):
-Beginning travels (Medium length)
-Rising Action (Medium-short length)
-Climax (Longest length)
-Falling Action (Medium-short length)
-Ending (Shortest length)

This is a very short chapter but the main definition of improv by my definition:

Improv is from feeling the music within and letting it flow through you, into your instrument. That, is true music.
